"From Addiction to Adoption"
June 19, 2009
This past Friday, June 19th Bible Fellowship Assembly and The Open End Youth Centre hosted an evening of music and drama. Wally Bidwell opened in prayer. A nice group of around 80 were present as the Praise band "Shoeless" and the drama group "The Edge" of Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church of Cochrane performed an evening of music and skits.
The drama team began their first drama with a short story of a self-help group. Each of the members of this group had an addiction to “plastic bubble wrap popping”. With humor and insight, each of the audience began to identify with this addiction of “bubble popping”. Each of the actors displayed powerful and authentic emotion that left the audience either saddened or laughing. One new member of the group presented Jesus as the one who can give victory over our addictions. Other dramas included a presentation of Leland’s song “Carried to the Table”.
Those who attended this evening were also impressed with the quality, sound and clear message of the band, “Shoeless”. From worship and praise music, to classic “Amazing Grace” to some amazing and deep contemporary music, this band encouraged, challenged and shared their love of Jesus. Never overpowering, this band brought harmony and a message of hope to all.
Just as the Gospel of Jesus is without cost, there was no charge for this event. An offering followed, along with a time of food and fellowship.
